Content Is Still King
All the best SEO practices are pretty much meaningless if your content is not well thought out. One factor determining search results for content is the keyword density.
Creating a 2000 word article on a topic that could be described in 200 words can actually hurt the keyword density. Essentially the more words in general are in the content, the more diluted the keywords become.
Some people think over using keywords can help increase search rankings for those keywords, but in reality that is pointless. The whole point of creating content is to attract people to view it. If the content is plugged with keywords, instead of maintaining a nice flow, nobody will want to read it and it will not matter if you have good search results.
There is a fine line between the need for important keywords to be prevalent with the need to have an article that is pleasing to read. If you can find that balance between keyword density and appealing writing, your content will serve you well in the search results and with your readers.
